Physical therapy for knee pain in Chicago
When your knee starts influencing which stairs you take, how far you walk, or whether you train, it is worth understanding what is happening.
LUX Concierge Physical Therapy in Lakeview East offers personalized, one-on-one care with Jordan Dubow. No double booking means time to discuss your knee and the activities that matter to you.
Your symptoms deserve a closer look
Knee pain can follow an injury or develop gradually. An assessment considers your history, symptoms, and how the knee affects daily activity. Relevant movement, strength, and functional testing help guide care. APTA: knee pain
Tell your therapist about swelling, locking, giving way, previous injuries, and any recent changes in activity. The spot that hurts is useful information, but it does not establish a diagnosis on its own.
Build around a meaningful goal
Getting down the stairs, standing through a workday, and returning to running place different demands on you. Your care should reflect what you need your knee to do.
At LUX, a full-body perspective considers the painful area alongside how you move and the demands of your routine. Your appointment is a chance to ask what the assessment suggests and how the plan connects to your goal.
Physical therapy can involve individualized exercises to address strength, mobility, and function. The appropriate approach depends on the findings and your needs. APTA: knee pain
A plan you can follow
Discuss what to do between visits, what activity changes may be appropriate, and what would prompt a reassessment. You should understand the purpose of your exercises and have room to explain what is or is not working.
Progress might mean tolerating a longer walk or handling stairs more comfortably before taking on a more demanding goal.
Common questions
Can physical therapy help if I do not run?
Your goals do not have to involve sport. Walking, household tasks, and comfortable daily movement are valid reasons to discuss an evaluation.
What if running brings on the pain?
Read knee pain while running: when to get assessed and explore sports and running rehabilitation.
What if I recently had knee surgery?
Share your procedure and surgeon’s restrictions before scheduling. See post-surgical rehabilitation for how to prepare that conversation.
When to seek prompt medical care
Seek urgent assessment if you cannot bear weight or move the knee, it is badly swollen or deformed, or it is hot and red with a fever. Locking or giving way also warrants prompt assessment. NHS: knee pain
