Physical therapy for back pain in Chicago

Back pain can change how you sit through a workday, carry groceries, or approach a workout. At LUX Concierge Physical Therapy in Lakeview East, care starts with what is difficult for you and what you want to get back to doing.

You work one-on-one with Jordan Dubow, with no double booking and a personalized approach that considers your whole body.

Start with an assessment

Back pain is a symptom, and different people can need different approaches. An evaluation considers your history, symptoms, movement, and daily demands. If the findings suggest another medical assessment is needed, that becomes part of the next step. APTA: low back pain

You do not need to arrive with a diagnosis. Describe when the pain began, what changes it, and whether you have symptoms into a leg. Bring any relevant medical records or instructions.

Connect your care to your life

“Less pain” matters. So does knowing what it would let you do.

Your goal might be getting through a commute more comfortably, picking up your child, or returning to lifting. At LUX, those details help give your plan direction. A full-body approach considers how you move and the demands around the painful area without assuming that every symptom has one simple cause.

Physical therapy may include individualized exercise, movement guidance, education, and hands-on care when appropriate. The combination should reflect your assessment and response. APTA: low back pain

Know what you are working toward

Use your appointment to ask which activities are appropriate now, what to practice between visits, and how progress will be reviewed. If an exercise is unclear or difficult to fit into your day, bring that up.

Your plan should be understandable enough to use outside the clinic.

Common questions

Can I come in for back pain that keeps returning?

Yes, you can contact LUX to discuss an evaluation. Explain the pattern, what you have tried, and the activities you are avoiding.

Is this only for workout injuries?

No. Work, household tasks, and everyday movement are equally useful starting points for discussing your goals.

What if the pain started after lifting?

When to seek urgent help

Seek emergency care for new bladder or bowel changes, numbness around the genitals or anus, or weakness or numbness in both legs with back pain. Severe pain that starts suddenly or worsens rapidly, or pain with fever or feeling unwell, needs urgent medical advice. NHS: back pain
